Follow these steps to get started and capture smooth, professional-quality shots with your iPhone.
Getting started
From unboxing to your first star-lapse β hereβs the whole workflow in a few minutes.
Use a USB-C cable and connect it to a powerbank. It can also be powered directly from some phones (iPhone 15 and higher).
Open your phoneβs Bluetooth settings and connect to βShutterLapseβ.
Set up your phone on a tripod and enable Night Mode from the camera app.
ShutterLapse provides 4 interval modes. To switch mode, press the button.
Interval modes
ShutterLapse provides 4 interval modes. Press the button to switch between them β each one is tuned for a specific Night Mode length.
This mode lets you connect the Bluetooth and prepare your setup. It does not take any picture.
This first interval mode is designed to work with the iPhone 5 seconds Night Mode. The additional delay lets the phone process the image.
This second mode is designed for the iPhone 30 seconds Night Mode.
Long press the button to start configuring the interval, then short press to increase or decrease. Long press again to confirm and exit the configuration.
Pro tips
A few habits that make the difference between a good and a stunning night timelapse.
Small movements can deteriorate the overall quality of your final timelapse.
Cars, streetlights or other bright light sources can affect picture consistency.
Prevent sudden brightness or focus shifts by long pressing on the iPhone screen to enter Auto Focus and Auto Exposure lock mode.
Do not touch or move the phone during the timelapse, and avoid moving or vibrating supports (car, A/C, β¦).
Notifications generate vibrations and received calls might interrupt image capture. Keep your iPhone in Airplane mode.
